For indie founders and developers

Your product is live, but nobody’s paying. We’ll find out why.

Send us the link. We’ll write you a report on why it isn’t selling and what to try next, with every claim linked to the page it came from so you can check it yourself. If the honest answer is to stop, the report will say that too.

Named Atlas

Conditional go

Score 21/50 · estimate

A go only if the site picks one buyer, makes a short lock on a planet cost less than the planet, and runs the kill test below.

01 · The problem

Why it’s hard to get a straight answer

Usually the homepage is trying to talk to everyone, so the person who’d pay doesn’t recognise themselves. Then the founder goes looking for a second opinion, and the two obvious places to get one both fall short.

01 · The homepage

Written for everyone

The homepage says it’s for teams, businesses, or anyone who needs it. The person who’d actually pay doesn’t see themselves in that, so a few people sign up to have a look and nobody gets as far as paying.

02 · AI score tools

AI tools that tell you what you want to hear

You paste in a description and get a score. Founders have posted about typing in completely different ideas, including nonsense, and getting the same encouraging number back. These tools are built to judge an idea before anything exists, so they won’t open your pricing page, and they won’t tell you to stop.

03 · Paid reviews

Paying a person $399

Having someone look at your actual product is the right idea. One review service aimed at founders like you charges $399, and it takes longer than a weekend. It’s worth it if you can wait and can afford it.

Checked on 8 October 2026. The $399 price is from a review service’s own pricing page. The complaint about the same score for every idea is from founders writing in public. We describe kinds of service here rather than naming anyone.

02 · What you get

A full report, with a one-page summary on top

The report covers who’s most likely to buy, what the alternatives charge, what you should charge, and where to find buyers without paying for ads. It ends with a verdict. Below is a real Teardown of Named Atlas, a live product at namedatlas.com. We read the site on 9 October 2026. The owner agreed we could publish it.

Verdict

Summary

Conditional go. 21/50. ESTIMATE. A go only if the site picks one buyer, makes a short lock on a planet cost less than the planet, and runs the kill test below.

Key findings

  • The buyer cannot keep what they buy. After any lock ends, anyone can take an address by paying Named Atlas 10% more. The previous claimant gets nothing, and there are no refunds. [6, 8, 16]
  • Protection costs more than the address. Planets start at £5. The lock fee has a floor of £1 a month, so six months of lock on a £5 planet adds at least £6. (ESTIMATE: our arithmetic.) [9]
  • The map is quiet. The rankings page shows 7 claimed addresses, listed together at £319. The busiest has 48 arrivals and 5 excursions. [17]
  • Price is not the problem. Linktree Starter is £3.50 a month billed annually, and Carrd Pro Lite is $9 a year. Linktree, Beacons, and Carrd all have free tiers. [18–21]
  • The site speaks to five buyers. "Studios, shops, bands, newsletters, clubs." We would sell to one: small teams and makers with something to launch. [4]

First action

Rewrite the guide hub and "Who is this for?" for that one buyer, and fix the planet lock so a short lock costs less than the planet. Then post on Indie Hackers, Show HN, and Product Hunt within their rules: no upvote asks, write it yourself, start a discussion. [23–27]

03 · How it works

You send a link, and we send back a report

There’s nothing to sign up for. You fill in a short form and the report comes by email, within 24 hours for a Snapshot or within 48 hours of payment for a Teardown or Teardown+. Teardown+ is the same report plus a read-only look at your tracking.

  1. 1

    Tell us about the product

Send the link, who you built it for, and what isn’t working. A few lines is plenty.

  2. 2

We look at it, and at the alternatives

We read your site and the products people might choose instead, taking prices from their own pages. We look for places where your buyers are already asking for help, and we note anything we couldn’t check.

  3. 3

    The report comes by email

A Snapshot is one page. A Teardown is the full report plus a one-page summary. Each claim links to where we found it, and if the evidence says you should stop, the report says so.

04 · The three options

The SoberRead analysis for my product Voicebid was a complete game-changer. It didn't just point out flaws, it gave me a crystal-clear, data-backed execution plan to pivot from a generic aggregator into a high-intent, defensible product. If you're building in tech or SaaS, the teardowns from SoberRead are pure gold.

07 · Questions

Questions people ask

Do you use AI?

Yes. We use a set of AI tools and skills we've built for this specific job. Every report is checked by a person before it goes out. Every claim links to a source you can open, and we label anything we couldn't check.

What if a figure is wrong?

Tell us and we'll correct it. A wrong figure in a paid report is our mistake, not yours. If you'd rather have your money back, you can, as long as you ask within 14 days of getting the report.

How do refunds work?

If a figure in a paid report is wrong, or the report doesn't help you decide, tell us within 14 days and we'll fix it or refund you. It isn't a promise that your product will sell. The Snapshot is free. A Teardown is £49.99 and Teardown+ is £79.99, both including VAT. The refunds page has the details, including the £30 choice if we can't read the tracking on a Teardown+.

Will you publish anything about my product?

No, not unless you later agree in writing. Snapshots and Teardowns stay private. There's an optional box on the form that lets us ask whether you'd like a public teardown, but ticking it isn't permission to publish, and you'd see a draft first. You can also ask us to delete your request at any time.

Is this financial or legal advice?

No. It's research to help you decide what to try next. It doesn't forecast your revenue, and it isn't advice on tax, setting up a company, investments or the law.
